Major retailers now running multi-temperature deliveries on fully electric refrigeration
Leatherhead, UK, 30th September, 2025 Electric transport refrigeration is now handling the complex challenge of multi-temperature deliveries, with Sunswap's technology successfully operating across different temperature zones in single trailers for major retailers including Tesco and food producers Cranswick and Noble Foods.
Sunswap's technology demonstrates electric refrigeration is more than capable of handling these more complex operations through purpose-designed remote evaporators working with their primary Endurance unit. This creates independent temperature control across compartments, which can be configured as lanes, bulkhead setups, or double-decker arrangements.
Sunswap's multi-temperature solution is already on the road with Tesco and Cranswick, enabling transport operators to maintain different temperature zones in a single trailer.
The capability is delivered through purpose-designed remote evaporators that integrate seamlessly alongside the Sunswap Endurance refrigeration unit. Available in both 700mm wide and full compartment width units with either single or dual air flow.
"This represents a significant step forward in zero-emission multi-temperature operations," said Michael Lowe, CEO of Sunswap. "Fleet operators can now effortlessly run multi-temperature deliveries with zero emissions, consolidating their chilled and frozen deliveries without compromising on performance or sustainability targets."
Multi-temperature transport addresses a critical operational need for logistics firms to run compartments at different temperature setpoints. Sunswap's remote evaporator technology features a compact design that maximises cargo space while providing independent temperature control for each compartment.
"Multi-temperature deliveries are increasingly important for efficient fleet operations," said Alastair Gough, Head of Business Development at Sunswap. "Our solution enables operators to serve diverse customer needs in a single journey while meeting environmental commitments, reducing fleet movements, and lowering operational costs."
The multi-temperature capability builds on Sunswap's growing deployments with major fleet operators including Tesco, Ocado, and Birds Eye.
