Sunswap has entered the Spanish market. The latest in a series of international expansions that has taken the company into France, the Netherlands, Chile and Australia since late 2025.

The expansion is supported by a partnership with SOR Iberica, part of the Reefer Group, which has manufactured refrigerated trailers in Spain since 1970, giving operators a direct route to trialling and purchasing Sunswap Endurance.

Carreras, a logistics operator running more than 1,000 vehicles across Spain and Portugal, announced this month they would be of one of the first Spanish operators to run Sunswap Endurance, with deployment beginning in May 2026. Trials with a number of Spanish operators are already confirmed with further details to be shared publicly.

Endurance is a battery-powered refrigeration unit with trailer-top solar for extended range and reduced charging. Built by Sunswap as a complete electric solution to the demands of today’s operators who are balancing rising costs, and sustainability agendas. Endurance delivers up to 24 hours of frozen operation and up to two months of chilled operation from a single charge, and has achieved up to 81% reduction in refrigeration operating costs compared to diesel across customers including Tesco, DFDS, Ocado and Birds Eye.

The unit runs continuously generating performance and temperature data, so operators have real-time visibility of their cold chain rather than finding out about problems when a load is rejected.

Michael Lowe, CEO, Sunswap "The speed at which operators across different markets are moving on this tells you something. France, Chile, Australia, and now Spain, all within months of each other. We are entering these markets based on demand for Sunswap and electric transport refrigeration. The interest we've seen in Spain before we've even formally launched here is a good indicator of where this market is heading."

Carreras commented, "We are moving forward with efficient, renewable energy-based solutions to support our strategic sustainability plan, and with Sunswap we found a solution that also makes sense operationally and commercially."

That operational track record stretches well beyond Europe. In Australia, Wickham Freight ran Endurance on a 1,671km Sydney to Brisbane return journey across 3 days, using just 28% of battery and no charging required. In Chile, a Walmart deployment covered more than 500km over 26 hours of chilled operation, finishing the run with 76% battery remaining, pulled entirely by an electric truck.

Sunswap's international expansion reflects a consistent pattern: operators in each new market have moved from enquiry to booked trial quickly, driven by the combination of verified cost reduction, zero direct emissions, and a data layer that changes how fleets manage refrigeration. Spain follows that pattern.
