Sunswap at ATFRIE 2026: growing electric transport refrigeration in Spain

We joined Spain’s refrigerated transport sector at the 49th ATFRIE General Assembly in Benidorm, continuing our expansion in the Spanish cold chain alongside partner SOR Ibérica.
The two-day event brought together representatives from across refrigerated transport, giving us the opportunity to meet fleet operators, customers, partners and other industry leaders and hear directly about the challenges shaping their operations.
For our team, those conversations were particularly valuable as we continue to grow our presence in Spain alongside SOR Ibérica.
Electric transport refrigeration for real Spanish fleet operations
Moving away from diesel refrigeration must work operationally as well as environmentally.
Fuel costs, margins, reliability, refrigeration performance and the practicalities of adopting new technology all matter to fleet operators. Rising fuel costs were among the issues raised by attendees at this year’s ATFRIE Assembly.
That’s why our conversations in Benidorm were about individual operations: routes, temperatures, energy use, charging and how the technology could fit into fleets without compromising performance.
Sunswap Endurance is electric transport refrigeration, purpose-built from the ground up for electric operation, with battery power supported by integrated solar.
Its integrated solar generates energy while the trailer is stationary and on the road, helping to extend operating range and reduce reliance on grid charging. In warmer, sunnier conditions, higher refrigeration demand can also be supported by stronger solar generation.
Building Sunswap’s presence in Spain
ATFRIE is another step in our growing activity in the Spanish refrigerated transport market. Earlier this year, Endurance arrived in Spain for our first Spanish Open Day in Valencia, held alongside SOR Ibérica and TIP. That gave operators the opportunity to see the technology first-hand and begin exploring how electric refrigeration could work within their own fleets.
Our presence at ATFRIE allowed us to continue those conversations with an even wider group of Spanish cold chain operators.
Could Endurance work on your routes?
We don’t expect fleet operators to make that decision based on a specification sheet.
We start with your operation, modelling routes, refrigeration requirements, energy consumption, charging opportunities and expected solar contribution before progressing to operational deployment.
That means fleets can evaluate Endurance using their routes, their deliveries and their operating data.
If you met Jen and the Sunswap team at ATFRIE or didn’t get the opportunity to speak to us in Benidorm, we’d love to continue the conversation.
